Verdict

This looks a tough call between Hallingdal and CAPRIO and the pin comes down on the latter. Consistency is definitely the strong suit of the Tom Dascombe-trained selection, who HAS not been out of the first two on his last four starts. He acts well on this Polytrack and over the trip and in spite of being beaten from this mark last time we are virtually guaranteed to get a decent level of performance out of him and so will take him to score. Hallingdal took a similar contest at Wolverhampton last time and has gone up 4lbs as a result. He too has a course win to his name and he gets this trip well, so he clearly has a chance. Leonaldo drops back from 9f today and that is not certain to suit. He will need a strong pace to be seen to best effect. The abilities of Papillio looked to have been over estimated by the assessor judged on his handicap debut and he returns from an eight month absence from a 3lb lower mark, which is much more realistic. Carlitos Spirit is still 2lbs higher than when winning at Headquarters last summer and has frame claims, while Tartan Gigha probably needs a drop in the weights. Caprio can star.
