In depth

Verdict

An awful start to proceedings here with some poorly rated and inconsistent performers on show and we'll take FLASH OF FIRE to get home in front, with Split The Wind perhaps the main danger. The selection hails from the in-form yard of Patrick Chamings and the gelding is stepped back up in trip here, which looks a plus. His form so far has been decent enough in context and what might just tip the balance in his favour here is the application of a first-time visor. Split The Wind won at Folkestone on fast ground a couple of starts back and the jury is out as to whether she stayed this far last time or too much use was made of her upfront. We will find out more here and she looks a threat. Silver Surprise was runner up in a poor course and distance maiden last time and could go well, while Itsy Bitsy might struggle to get home and we'll take Flash Of Fire to score.
