      Verdict

Storm Runner only does just enough to win so a hat-trick is not out of the question, despite a penalty for last week's narrow margin victory over C&D. He had earlier finished behind close-up fourth Paperetto at Lingfield and, on better terms today, the latter looks to have every chance of losing his maiden tag. However, BLUE DEER is a winner without a penalty having landed an apprentice race under the accomplished Charlie Bishop at Lingfield a week ago and John Akehurst's gelding is taken to follow up. Dells Breezer and Darwin Star have claims on the book but both are returning from a lay-off.
