Flat racing on Turf may be over for another year but today's all-weather card starts off with two very competitive-looking maidens. Belrog showed plenty of promise at Salisbury while Bury Pacer was only beaten a head over course and distance last time. Mountain Lion has his sights lowered and Canova caught the eye at Newbury, though a drop back to 7f may suit the latter. Roger Charlton also runs Hooded and he's one of several newcomers to consider along with the dirt-bred Classic Devotion and FOREVER NOW. The latter is a full brother to the stable's Shantaram, who won a Group 3 as a three-year-old and was also second in last year's Lingfield Derby Trial, run on the Polytrack. He is fancied to make a winning debut.
