In depth

Verdict

Silenzio didn't have much luck on debut and although beaten the saddle had slipped and he may perform better for the newly crowned champion trainer this time round. Mark Johnston's runners often progress well but Birdwatcher needs to have really come on from a disappointing first outing to get involved. Midnight Maasai and Kuala Limper were separated by a length when making up the minor honours behind Terdaad last time out and may be closely matched again, whilst Mount Crystal and CLUB OCEANIC both exchanged hands for significant sums and are worth a market check. We take a chance that Jeremy Noseda's juvenile Club Oceanic, a brother to multiple winner Mac Love, can make a winning start to his career. He could be anything but those with experience haven't exactly set the world alight and it may pay to take a chance with this well bred newcomer. John Gosden's colt by Street Cry, Riot Police, has got to have disappointed connections so far having been bought for $190,000 at Keeneland last year. Nevertheless, his chances shouldn't be entirely written off just yet from a yard who know how to get juvenile winners.
