Verdict

A tightly-knit sprint in which TEXAS QUEEN is preferred to Breathless Kiss and his own stablemate Nadeen. Mick Channon's Shamardal filly is bred to be smart and her recent progression now puts her in that bracket. A 6lb penalty for a recent course and distance win may not be enough to stop her in her hat-trick bid and as a result she can maintain a 100% record for Joe Fanning. Best Trip looks the pick of Richard Guest's pair. This gelding won nicely over six furlongs here last month and he needs close inspection in the market. Nadeen has not been seen for 254 days since running well at Windsor behind Navajo Chief. Again the market may be key to assessing her chance today. Italian Tom has done various connections proud and he has solid form, without looking too well-handicapped. Breathless Kiss was pitched in at the deep end on her second start when sixth in the Champion Two-year-old race at Ripon in August. These are very different conditions but she obviously has ability. Micky's Knock Off is making up the numbers, and so it is Texas Queen who can reign supreme.
