    Verdict

A poor contest concludes a very moderate card and GHENT gets the nod, while Adnams is a potential improver. This definitely does not have the look of a race to get heavily involved in, but Ghent is put up as the pick with Seb Sanders a good booking by Irish trainer David Myerscough. The Celtic Swing gelding finished in the money at Ballinrobe before coming home runner-up at Dundalk last time, when the mile looked perhaps a bit on the short side. This 1m 3f is worth a try and from a 1lb higher mark he can remain very competitive. Adnams tries Kempton for the first time and after three maiden runs he got the worst of the draw at Lingfield last time and looks capable of better, so if there is any support for him we should take note. Mallorey has some reasonable form in context but would probably prefer a slower surface, while Bubses Boy is rare among this field in that he has won a race, having taken a Yarmouth claimer last month, but he was beaten comfortably from this mark last time. Albuharith will stay this far and has been dropped a handy 3lbs since finishing second in a claimer last time, so can't be totally ruled out, while Jiggalong is very interesting now stepped up to this trip, with Sadler's Wells on her dam's side. She may be able to show us a bit of improvement, and the same goes for Ebony Eyes, who was staying on nicely over slightly shorter last time and is going the right way. In an open contest Ghent just gets the nomination.
