In depth

Verdict

Pamir is tentatively nominated as the selection, with Heavens Walk and Jayanjay also expected to go close. After The Show is another with claims at this level and is worth monitoring for signs of each-way support. The return to the All Weather will suit the last named and, as he is better than recent form figures would suggest, a bold attempt cannot be ruled out. Jayanjay has plenty of experience of this type of event and, given that he finished just ahead of the selection when they met here 11 days ago; he has to be respected. The drop to the minimum distance shouldn't be a problem for Phillip Mitchell's gelding and he is fully expected to at least make the frame. Heavens Walk also has a similar profile and, as a consistent type that is holding his form well, the lightly raced five-year-old is sure to make this a good test. However, Pamir has very little to find with any of today's rivals and, given that he has shown a real liking for Kempton's new surface, the gelding has plenty in his favour today.
