In depth

Verdict

An open heat where we will again look for some value and LADY SORCERER is the suggestion to see off Shanafaran, Kruggerand and Star Choice. The selection has been out of sorts for some time, but there are definite signs that her trainer Alan Jarvis has his runners back in good form. She will stay every yard of this trip, she acts at the track and she has slipped to a career low mark, so there are possibilities at a price. Shanafaran is 2lb worse off with Kruggerand for beating that rival by a neck when the pair met here a couple of weeks ago. Clearly both act well here and both are expected to figure prominently again. Prince Charlemagne ran up a hat-trick in January and February, two of his wins coming over course and distance, before being put in his place over 10f last time. The return to the longer trip looks a positive but this mark might just be stretching his ability a bit far. Star Choice scored in a first-time visor at Wolverhampton when last seen out and the headgear is retained. If it remains effective then from just 1lb higher he can get heavily involved, although he does have to prove he handles the track. Filun is 4lbs higher than when just getting home in front over course and distance last time and you wouldn't confidently rule out a follow up, but for those not wanting to play at shorter prices the tentative pick is Lady Sorcerer.
