    Verdict

The likely trail-blazer AMBER SUNSET can land the opener at the main expense of Val De Flores and Grand Plan while Silent Treatment and Gemini Jive are others that deserve consideration. The selection, Amber Sunset, remains a maiden after five starts, four of those being over six furlongs, a trip which she does not look to get. Keen throughout those contests, she possesses lots of early dash and added to that is her plum stall 12 draw which will allow her rider to put her speed to good use. Val De Flores, a half-sister to the former smart performer Mac Love has not displayed anything of significance in her three outings up to now but one suspects their may be more to come. Her effort in testing ground at Beverley last time was rather disappointing and while she is likely to be suited by further in time, her high draw is a big asset. Grand Plan has not stepped up on a promising debut but reverting to the all-weather should suit her. Silent Treatment is battle hardened and twice a winner in claiming company already this season. It emerged following her last run that the saddle had slipped forward so a line is best put through that effort. Given her effectiveness on easier turf surfaces, she is not certain to produce her best back on polytrack while one just feels she may be vulnerable to lesser exposed sorts given she appears to have her limitations, even at this stage of her career. Gemini Jive races on the all-weather for the first time here. She is a half-sister to a smart juvenile filly called Berbice from three seasons ago and while she has not attracted any market support in her races to-date, she has shown signs of ability and could not be ruled out. Claphands drops back in trip following four efforts over further and given the sharp nature of this five furlongs, this could be considered an experiment by connections. A low class but nonetheless competitive nursery to get the card underway and Amber Sunset is the selection.
