Verdict

A very moderate contest where caution is advised and SEEK THE TRUTH gets the vote, while Bene Lad looks the most interesting in opposition. The Sue Bradburne-trained pick is just 2lbs higher than when scoring over three miles at Newcastle in October. He was a well beaten runner-up back there next time before falling at the same track last month, so there is a bit for him to prove. He returns here for the first time since his debut, and he acts on soft ground, while the yard often pops up with a winner on the card at this venue and we will take him to be the one for today. Bene Lad represents the in-form Jim Goldie, and he has not been seen since runner-up in a novices hurdle here in May 2008. The track and this ground suit him well, as will this trip and market support would make him of major interest from what is a good mark. Rusty Red is another deserving of consideration. At his best he would be entitled to go very close, although he has not managed to produce that for some time. Even so, his yard's runners have been going well and a return to form is not ruled out. Treasured Memories would look well handicapped if he could guarantee a clear round, but that has to be a doubt, while Windy Hills might find the ground too soft and his weight too hefty on the day. Seek The Truth is a tentative nomination.
