In depth

Verdict

MAGGIO posted some fine efforts for Nigel Hawke and ran well in first time cheekpieces for his current connections last time. He is starting to look vulnerable but should still have the scope to take this race as long as he copes with the quicker ground which is a worry given that he's raced predominantly on a softer surface. Donald McCain sent out the horse that beat him last time so he'll know where he stands with Smithy The Horse and Flichity but Mr Jay Dee may emerge as a bigger threat if he can build on his hurdling bow at Sedgefield over this shorter trip. Si Bien showed a fair level of form prior to his final start and must be considered a danger, Howard Johnson has his team in excellent form which brings County Colours into the equation whilst Graham Lee has a good strike rate for Jim Goldie.
