Verdict

A competitive field goes to post for this handicap chase and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Lincoln Place, Peccadillo and New Bird and the tentative vote goes to Lincoln Place. The selection won well last time out when defeating Tommy Carson and although he has a penalty for that win and he is dropping in trip he remains at the right end of the handicap and he is taken to win again under conditions that suit. Peccadillo rates the main danger on his best form as he has dropped to a handy mark, but he was well behind Saffron Sun last time out and although he is better off at that rival here he will need to improve on what he has shown of late to score. New Bird is another that is on a handy mark and he was a fair fourth behind Billie John last time. This longer trip will suit him better and he is worth noting in the market. Cool Monty is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him when he was third behind Transit last time and for that reason he is passed over on this occasion. Of the remainder Lik Wood Power is from a shrewd yard and he is worth a cautionary look in the market but his best form is with more cut in the ground and for the winner we return to Lincoln Place.
