Verdict

Donald McCain has a solid strike rate with hurdlers here and LYRIC STREET looks well placed to augment that record. A useful Flat performer, he's taken nicely to hurdling and sets a standard comfortably above all rivals on evidence to date with an easy Sedgefield success was followed by a second to the much-improved Mister Spingsprong at Kelso with the rest well beaten off. Hail The Brave went off market leader in a bumper here last time but was beaten a long way on very heavy ground. He now has his first taste of jumping hurdles and on quick ground will surely do much better. The returning Royal Macnab might have place claims.
