In depth

Verdict

Poker De Sivola gets the vote over El Dee, Reidwil, Impress and Player. This does not appear to be a strong juvenile contest, and Poker De Sivola should certainly be involved in the finish based on past efforts. Ferdy Murphy's charge was sent off as favourite on his British debut at Wetherby in October but could only finish third on what was his first outing since April. Nevertheless, the French import was then asked to take on Listed company on a return to the Yorkshire track just over a fortnight ago, and trailed home well behind Degas Art. This drop in grade should help his cause enormously, and he should now be spot on in a bid to open his account, so looks worth supporting. El Dee has found one too good at both Huntingdon and Sedgefield on his last two starts, and also takes a step down the ladder, but he has looked a bit one-paced and is worth taking on again. Reidwil was purchased at Goffs France sale in July and is sure to have been well schooled, but his inexperience may find him out, while Impress has not lived up to his name yet, but cost 100,000gns as a yearling before current connections got him for a snip at 4,500gns, so should be placed to good effect in time. Player could be anything, so watch the market is the suggestion for the Graham Wylie-owned newcomer, but Poker De Sivola makes most appeal.
