Verdict

Barton Grey took advantage of what was ultimately a lenient mark when successful on her handicap debut at Kelso recently but the Nicky Richards-trained mare has a penalty to carry for that success now and she may struggle to follow up here and preference is for PADDY LIVE, who gets the vote ahead of Gershwinner. Don McCain's gelding has been fairly well held in recent starts but is likely to improve for the step up in trip today and he has to be respected given the form of the yard's runners. The trip should pose no problems for Jedd O'Keefe's Kentucky Boy and he should again be thereabouts but he is proving to be expensive to follow so may once more have to settle for a place at best. Viel Gluck has to be given a chance coming from the in-form yard of Ferdy Murphy but he needs to improve on all known form to get involved at the business end of the race. Tom George's Peter Sent, a point-to-point winner, makes his rules debut in a poor looking race and he has to be respected but preference is for Paddy Live. Ian Williams has his team in good heart right now and the Towcester bumper winner showed his best form over hurdles when stepped up in trip at Warwick last time. Any further improvement from that recent outing will make Paddy Live hard to beat.
