In depth

Verdict

DEEP PURPLE gets the nomination ahead of Divine Gift in what is a decent novices' chase for the track. The Evan Williams-trained selection is clearly the best of these on what he has achieved thus far over fences, winning two of his five races and running with plenty of credit at Sandown last time. This trip and ground look ideal for the eight-year-old and he can win again. Divine Gift has also gone well in all three of his chases to date, including when breaking his duck at Fakenham last time. He goes well on this ground and should be thereabouts. Opera De Couer is the top rated of those in the race to have been assessed over fences and is respected, although he would ideally want softer ground, expecially over this minimum trip. The others should be readily swept aside and the hope is that Deep Purple is the one to do it.
