Verdict

Ansgar carries a penalty for winning the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster in September and Captain Cat is also penalised for his earlier victory in a Group 3 at Goodwood. The latter was well beaten in the Lockinge a fortnight ago along with several of these including ALJAMAAHEER. But Roger Varian's charge is at his best over today's shorter trip as when chasing home Ansgar at Doncaster last year and is taken to reverse Lockinge running with both Cable Bay and Breton Rock. That Is The Spirit won a Listed event over track and trip last time and steps up in class along with the returning Clon Brulee but Top Notch Tonto is at home in this grade if back to his best and further rain would aid his cause.
