      Verdict

Those drawn high boast a good record in the Silver Bowl, and with that in mind, Aqmaar is selected ahead of Regal Parade, Smart Instinct and Tudor Prince. Although this prestigious event is run on the round course, a look at the stats reveals that a high draw has been no bad thing over the past few years. Aqmaar clearly felt the benefit of his Newbury return when scoring well at Newmarket three weeks ago, although it can be argued that he had the run of the race. Nevertheless, the improvement shown was obvious, and John Dunlop's charge can follow up in a field including two of his beaten rivals, before being aimed at the Britannia at Royal Ascot. Regal Parade lines up unbeaten after three outings, and although holding no big-race entries at present, can continue to claw back some of the 430,000gns he cost as a yearling when with Godolphin. We will know whether he is just a very good handicapper or a Listed performer in the making after today as he bids to defy another rise in the weights. His trainer Mark Johnston has two more bites at the cherry here with Annemasse and Voodoo Moon but neither look quite up to the task. Richard Fahey sent out last year's winner Anna Pavlova, and is double-handed with Billy Dane and Smart Instinct who both reappeared in the same race won by Shmookh at York. The latter is preferred in the hope that he stays the trip. Tudor Prince may not be spot-on but is interesting off his low weight, but for the winner we return to Aqmaar.
