Verdict

Kingsgate Native has run in this four times, winning twice and being placed on both other occasions. But he was beaten fair and square by Hot Streak and Pearl Secret 12 months ago and it might be asking a lot of Robert Cowell's veteran to win again at the age of 10 as he was only third behind stablemate Goldream and Justice Day in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket three weeks ago. Justice Day and Jack Dexter were fourth and fifth here last year so look held but Pretend is an interesting runner. Very smart on artificial surfaces, Godolphin obviously feel it's worth trying him on Turf again but there must be a big doubt about him handling the surface. Tommy Stack has sent over Great Minds, who is in good form and will enjoy the ground. But his overall profile suggests he has a bit to find while G Force is best watched under a penalty on his return. Danzeno went close in a Group 3 at Ascot in October but we'll take a chance that a break has revitalised TAKE COVER. David Griffiths' stable star won a Group 2 and was holding his own in Group 1 company last year so is greatly respected on his return.
