In depth

Verdict

Not too many jump off the page here so we'll take a chance with Cadoudalas. Kempski and Donovan are others with claims whilst Partly Cloudy and Masterjoe may fare better now handicapping. The selection has to put a disappointing run behind him but the conditions were testing at Newcastle with only half of the fourteen runners completing the course so it may be best to forgive him that run. Prior to that, he had run on gamely to score at the first time of asking over obstacles having shown promise in bumpers. The form is nothing to get excited about but he should be good enough to go close here. Kempski and Donovan are at the other end of the scale as far as experience goes and cases can be made for both; Kempski has yet to win away from Ayr but Donovan looks set for a big run as Timmy Murphy is two from two on the gelding. A close eye should be kept on the market with the two aforementioned handicap debutants worth noting in particular but Cadoudalas has fairly solid claims and will do for us.
