        Verdict

        It will be interesting to see how Prince Woodman performs after such along lay off but Brian Meehan's gelding is hard to recommend and more solid claims are held by Patavellian, with Borderlescott rated the pick of the remainder. The selection is entitled to come on for his recent return at Nottingham and should do better for the return to six furlongs so he gets the vote. Ashdown Express is capable but may need another run to put him spot on, while Baron's Pit was well held on his return at Newbury and is probably best watched on that evidence. Kostar was good value for his win at Pontefract last month and may be improving but this looks a lot tougher so he may be booked for a place at best. Borderlescott showed progressive form on all grounds last term and he has to be respected but lack of a recent run is of some concern and a safer bet looks to be Patavellian, who is marginally preferred
