Verdict

The form on offer here does not set the world alight so we will side with the newcomer CHAPERNO, while both Lucky Rave and Reeds Bay are worth noting in the betting market. The selection is a well bred colt coming from the Godolphin camp. He has plenty of speed in his breeding and will have to be no world beater to win on his racecourse debut. Frankie Dettori is taking the trouble to travel to Haydock which is a positive and the market will be the best guide to his chance. Of the horses with form Lucky Rave stands out as being the best. He caught the eye on his debut over course and distance finishing third of thirteen behind Pycian and with further improvement to come he warrants plenty of respect. Reeds Bay ran well on his debut over course and distance also but disappointed when sent off favourite to win at Newcastle last time out so should be treated with some caution. Chaperno is destined for a bright future and should be good enough to win a maiden of this nature on his debut.
