Mark Johnston's Pontefract maiden winner Autumn Riches could be of interest on his handicap debut off mark of 83 but he may not appreciate the testing conditions and a better bet looks to be Richard Fahey's recent York third, BAWAARDI, who is out of a Bluebird mare and is proven on a soft surface so he looks worth chancing. Sir Michael Stoute's Desert Creek won over course and distance in May last year on heavy ground so will not be inconvenienced by the going but has disappointed of late so looks best left out of calculations, while Jordaura is proven on the ground but is another that looks in the grip of the handicapper. Linda Perratt's Silver Rime has more to do than when successful at Newcastle last time and of more interest may be Richard Fahey's lightly raced Our Joe Mac, who has run well on good to soft ground previously and could be of interest, although stable companion Bawaardi looks a better bet.
