KING TORUS looked as though he was just in need of the run on his reappearance at York. But Richard Hannon's three-year-old travelled well for a long way and could take all the beating here as long as the ground doesn't turn soft. First City hasn't won for more than 12 months but this is a significant drop in grade for David Simcock's mare, who was last seen in a Group 1 at Deauville when finishing fourth to the brilliant Goldikova. She was, however, no match for Rainfall over 7f at Ascot a year ago though the Godolphin filly was well beaten on her only start so far this season. Navajo Chief won a handicap at York on his first start since the spring but is taking on better opposition here.
