    Verdict

The vote here goes to Alderney Race ahead of Quito and Beckermet. Beckermet and Quito are the highest rated of these, and if Beckermet could repeat his Royal Ascot at York debut run behind Ifraaj, he would be a warm order here, although he disappointed at Newcastle last week. Quito is holding his form very well, and his most recent effort saw him chase home the July Cup-hope Soldier's Tale, so he is afforded plenty of respect. However, much as Alderney Race has over three lengths to find on Beckermet based on York form, he is better weighted today and he lost ground when stumbling at the start on the Knavesmire. If Paradise ran very well to be second in a Listed event at Naas last time, so he can bag some money, but the others, including Talbot Avenue who looks just below the best of these, need to find improvement if they are to win. Once again, then, the vote goes to Alderney Race.
