In depth

Verdict

Drum Dragon with an official rating of 73 sets the standard however CURLEW looks a newcomer of some potential and he is fancied to take high order on his debut along with fellow newcomer Acquavella. A son of Cape Cross, Mark Johnston's gelded newcomer comes from a stable who continue to produce plenty of winners. The market is normally a useful guide to their chance on debut so it would need to be positive, but with plenty of class on both sides of his pedigree he cannot be ignored. Oneofapear may be one for the future rather than now, whilst Acquavella is a half sister to plenty of winners and she looks one to watch closely, although her future may lie over further. The step up in trip may suit Jeunopse who has shaped well in two starts, whilst More Tea Vicar has been exposed as modest at best. More interesting is Drum Dragon, a Beat Hollow filly who ran Cool Hand Jake close in handicap company at Wolverhampton recently and a repeat of that run may be good enough today. Again the betting will help, but without that information we will take a chance on Curlew.
