In depth

Verdict

Tempsford can make the journey from Newmarket pay off, with Ski Jump, Millville and Hearthstead Wings taken to chase him home. Tempsford continues his preparation for this year's Cesarawitch with what should be another smooth victory, as he is sure to be even fitter now after his comeback win at Carlisle six days ago. He had the measure of Ski Jump that day, and even with a six-pound penalty, you would have to think that Sir Mark Prescott will have left a bit to work on. He should once again be able to dictate in this small field and should comfortably come out on top en-route to Newmarket. One word of caution though if you are thinking of backing him for the 'Ces', as it must be pointed out that he has yet to win over further than 14 furlongs. Of the rest here, Millville, who has taken on good animals in the Ebor and the Old Newton Cup of late, makes most appeal, and he should have the measure of Hearthstead Wings at least on that latter form. Tempsford has kept his powder dry for an autumn campaign though and should take all the beating.
