In depth

Verdict

Recent course and distance winner Kyle of Lochalsh has to be respected off just a 1lb higher mark today but the softer ground here is not in his favour and, with the consistent Jordans Spark getting little respite from the handicapper, preference is for Kylkenny. The selection ran much better back at his favourite track Pontefract last time, will relish the underfoot conditions and his jockey is able to take all the allowances going which will further help his cause. Neil's Legacy probably has more to do than when landing a claimer here last time, while Shekan Star has paid the penalty for his consistency at the hands of the handicapper. Peas 'n Beans has the assistance of a useful apprentice who is able to claim and additional 3lbs as he is riding for his own stable and that will help his cause but Michael Bell's gelding has given little cause for optimism of late and a better bet looks to be Kylkenny.
