In depth

Verdict

Mark Johnston reintroduces an interesting type in the shape of Dollar Chick and the three-year-old is fancied to get one over on her elders if she is fit enough to do herself justice on her first start of the season; Flighty Fellow is a hardened campaigner that will not lay down without a fight, while Tizzy May and Mystical Ayr are others that have run into form of late and cannot confidently be ruled out. Mystical Ayr has plenty of experience of the Scottish tracks and, although she has never won away from her beloved Ayr, she handles this unique course well enough to hold serious each-way claims in this company. Tizzy May has been in good form since returning from a long absence and seems to have thrived for the switch to Brain Ellison's yard. He is only 2lb higher than his last winning mark and, despite his poor strike-rate, he has to be respected at this level. Similar comments apply to Flighty Fellow, who will be suited by the underfoot conditions and looks sure to go close if he is on song. Tim Easterby's gelding is a versatile performer and rates as the best alternative if the selection is in need of the run. The betting will be a good indicator on that score. But it is fair to say that Dollar Chick has far more scope for improvement than any of her rivals and, as her weight-for-age allowance helps her cause, this looks an ideal platform for this half-sister to the high-class Amfortas to launch her campaign.
