Verdict

Bow Beaver has done little wrong in two starts so far having won well first time out in a Carlisle maiden prior to a decent second in a novice stakes race at Newcastle last month but Howard Johnson's colt is far from certain to handle the cut in the ground and it may be worth siding with REEDS BAY, who gets the vote with Emerald Girl rated the best of the rest. The selection ran better than was expected on a similar surface at York last time, staying on the one pace from a furlong out in a nursery over seven furlongs. The ground is not a problem for Ed McMahon's colt and the drop in trip to six furlongs should suit the son of Monsieur Bond, who looks worth siding with. Pat Haslam's Dance For Julie opened her account in a soft ground median auction maiden at Thirsk recently and she has to be respected but may be a shade high in the weights for what she has achieved. John Spearing's Farmers Wish is another with winning form on a soft surface and she has to be considered being dropped in grade having been outclassed in a listed race last time. Richard Fahey has his string in fine form so his runner Emerald Girl has to be respected but she is unproven on ground this soft and preference is for Reeds Bay.
