      Verdict

      Recent winners Optical Illusion and TANGERINE TREES can fight out the finish here and the latter is preferred. Bryan Smart's gelding won twice over course and distance last month in similar company, and has gone up a total of just 4lbs given that both wins were by a neck. Therefore, he is fairly treated and looks to be in the form of his life, while he clearly has a preference for this track, so we will go with him. Optical Illusion just got the better of Hansomis over course and distance last time and he is 3lbs higher today. The five-year-old is a little less consistent than the selection and so we will take him on this time. Elkhorn is on the same mark as when beaten here earlier in the month and looks in need of a further drop in the weights to win again, while Avontuur is 7lbs higher than when winning at Wolverhampton in June, but could still get competitive from this mark. Leonid Glow is not out of it either, with trip and ground to suit, but Tangerine Trees can complete a hat-trick.
