In depth

Verdict

Fast Shot scored in heavy ground at Newcastle last time and, though facing a tougher task off a higher mark today, is not easily dismissed in his current form. Hat-trick hero Klynch is harder to fancy as he steps up a couple of grades and Colonel Mak looks high enough in the weights now after his victory at Doncaster in April. The latter finished runner-up in this last year just ahead of ROKER PARK. David O'Meara's charge has slipped down the handicap since and with an apprentice's claim taken into account, he's effectively 13lb lower today. With a decent third in heavy ground at Newcastle under his belt, he gets the vote. Lexi's Hero and Blue Jack would prefer faster going but New Planet is not without a chance if at his best.
