Verdict

OUTSIDE EDGE is our recommendation to see off Siren Sound and Jollyhockeysticks. Walter Swinburn's gelding was done few favours by the handicapper at the top of the season as he paid the penalty for showing a degree of ability as a juvenile. That mark appears to have been sympathetically revised after a string of unspectacular efforts in handicaps and it would be disappointing were he not capable of exploiting a mark of 62. Siren Sound was dropped to six furlongs without success. Stepped back up to a mile, the booking of Jimmy Fortune rates as a big positive. Jollyhockeysticks has to be respected as a course-and-distance scorer. She deserved to pick up a prize after a string of close run misses and it remains to be seen as to whether 6lb will be enough to thwart a follow-up. Milanollo hasn't shown a lot of late but with Michael Bell and Hayley Turner enjoying a fruitful partnership at present, she cannot be discounted. The visor has been removed from Poyle Dee Dee after another failure in maiden company. Salt Of The Earth looked promising at the beginning of the year but has not gone on. Course-and-distance winner, Bramalea is tried under 7lb apprentice, Amy Scott rather than regular partner, James Doyle. Modest but competitive and Outside Edge can oblige.
