      Verdict

Roger Charlton has won this twice in recent years and last year's fourth Proponent can run from the same mark this time. A low draw is generally helpful here so expect a big run from him but he was firmly put in his place by GREEN DESTINY at Newmarket in April and William Haggas' charge is another with a good berth. He drops back to a mile after winning the John Smith's at York in superb style but has a tremendous turn of foot and shouldn't be inconvenienced. Three-year-olds have a good record in the race and both Sagramor and Cai Shen, first and second in the Britannia Stakes at Ascot, must be considered as both are reasonably drawn and on the upgrade. Dance And Dance ran an excellent race in the Royal Hunt Cup but a 6lb rise and a high draw makes this tougher. He had earlier scored at Epsom when Vainglory, who was unlucky in-running, stayed on strongly and the latter could repay each-way support at a fair price.
