Verdict

Red Duke and Chandlery fought out the finish of the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket with the former just coming out on top despite racing green. He has a 3lb penalty which should enable the runner-up to reverse the form but the winner may have had enough in hand and can get the better of the pair again. Chandlery is one of a quartet from the Richard Hannon yard and presumably the pick with Richard Hughes on board but none of the remaining trio can be lightly dismissed. Elkhart will have to improve markedly from his Beverley victory though it would be no shock to see him do so but the form pick has to be LETHAL FORCE. Clive Cox' grey produced an outstanding effort when beaten less than two lengths in the Coventry Stakes and with normal progress can take this prestigious event.
