In depth

Verdict

Days Of My Life can step up another gear to beat Illustrious Blue, with Reviving and Zabeel House best of the remainder. In truth not many stand out here, and the first two mentioned should dominate proceedings, with preference just for Days Of My Life. The Roger Charlton stable is starting to get into top gear and there should be plenty of winners flowing from Beckhampton over the next few weeks. Having finished second to subsequent winner Baskerville at Warwick in April, Days Of My Life duly went one better when beating the more fancied Compromiznotension at Folkestone the following week, shaping as though there is still plenty to come. With that in mind, a rating of 74 for his handicap debut does not look at all harsh, and he can prove the point here in receipt of 6lb from Illustrious Blue. The latter had a bout of seconditis last year, but came good when scoring over the course-and-distance earlier this month, but he was perhaps a shade fortunate to beat Mumaathel that day as the runner-up did not get the best of luck in running. Reviving is by proven soft-ground performer Fasliyev but is best watched after a break, and Zabeel House has shown all his best form on a faster surface. Days Of My Life gets the vote.
