          Verdict

          David Nicholls has mopped up in valuable sprints this term and the Sessay handler has a strong hand with Flak Jacket, Pax and Zuhair all holding solid claims. Marginal preference is for the former who had his stablemates behind when scoring a most decisive victory over course and distance last time and will still be hard to beat despite a subsequent 10lb rise in the weights. Halmahera was a close runner-up in the Stewards Cup and ws far from disgraced at Ripon last time but is on a longish losing sequence while Golden Spectrum has not fulfilled early potential. Alpen Wolf has done most of his winning at a slightly lesser grade so a better each way alternative may be Alafzar who comes here in top form having landed a Yarmouth event earlier in the month and will appreciate the likely strong pace.
