Verdict

CAPTAIN CAT has always gone well fresh in the past so it's a surprise to see him running just nine days after landing a Group 3 at Salisbury. However, he was so impressive that day that he's given the nod to follow up. Three-year-olds have a good record and Hors De Combat is greatly feared after just being caught by Wannabe Better in a Group 3 over the course and distance. There's more to come from him and has to be a threat. Master Carpenter is another of the younger brigade with a fine chance, especially if there is plenty of give in the ground. He landed a Listed contest and a Group 3 before finding the step up to this level just beyond him in France last time. He was behind Bow Creek in a Newbury handicap earlier but was conceding 8lb and can turn the tables on the revised terms. Chil The Kite is generally beaten at this level but it's probably not the strongest Group 2 ever so he can get competitive again.
