Verdict

Andrew Balding won this a couple of years ago with the useful Pearl Castle and saddles newcomer Brandon Castle, who is out of a Galileo mare and a half-brother to a 7f winner. Silver Ranger is the obvious choice but struggling to get his head in front and is a lot more exposed than his rivals and his yard also run Silver Quay. BEST OF TIMES (NAP) wasn't far behind the smart Basateen when fifth on his debut at Newmarket. He showed enough to suggest he can win a race like this and makes more appeal than Kempton runner-up Dutch Portrait and The Queen's newcomer Dartmouth, who will probably do better over middle-distances next year.
