Verdict

With only Richard Hannon's King Carnival, who finished seventh of 14 at Newbury, having raced previously there is little for backers to go on here and David Loder's Bayeux is a token selection over another Hannon inmate Bentley's Ball. Loder has his two-year-olds in good form and the Red Ransom half-brother to Jahaam is bound to know enough about the game. The Stravinsky colt Bentley's Ball hails from another stable whose juveniles have been running well and it is interesting that Richard Hughes rides him in preference to King Carnival. John Gosden has had his first two-year-old winner of the season, so Gwaihir can be expected to be forward enough to go close on a course that the trainer does well at. Anuvasteel makes plenty of appeal on breeding and Neville Callaghan can ready a horse first time out.
