      Verdict

Anna Pavlova is preferred to Portal and Tanzanite. Anna Pavlova is a lightly raced sort and with proven aptitude for cut in the ground and if the rain falls, her chances will be greatly enhanced. Portal looks a progressive sort but is unproven on anything other than fast ground. Tanzanite won on soft ground at Sandown but was disappointing at the Curragh. Nice Tune continues in good heart and appears on the upgrade. Grain Of Truth is related to a number of big race winners and is watched in the market. Shortest Day is much better than her bare form suggests and she showed signs of coming to the boil when fourth to Red Evie at Ascot. Anna Pavlova should have conditions in her favour and is afforded the nomination.
