Verdict

Latent Light and Formulation are intriguing handicap newcomers who need checking in the market but ONYX OF ARABIA won readily last time and is taken to go in again. Our pick made the most of a drop in the weights to score at Windsor last time, in the process gaining his first success from eight starts. The 6lb penalty he incurs means he needs to have improved to score again because he'd previously struggled from marks this high but the extra yardage seemed to help last time and he remains unexposed at this distance; he should go close. Formulation makes most appeal of the handicap debutants as he's taken in some quality maidens so far and should enjoy more success now racing off a mark of 69. Latent Light is a son of Derby winner North Light so should be capable of better but Ed Dunlop doesn't have the greatest of records at the track and his efforts so far haven't quite matched those of Formulation, yet they share the same mark. Kerchak was rated 79 on the back of some fair efforts in maidens so should have chances off 70, however he showed precious little last time and arrives under something of a cloud. Until The Man is now only 3lbs higher than for his sole success but he was well beaten here last time and a solitary one pound drop should not change that. Double Fortune has blinkers to aide her course but will need them to produce plenty of improvement and we'll return to the entire more solid Onyx Of Arabia.
