    Verdict

Cases can be made for all of the field and handicaps don't come much more competitive than this. However, Hurricane Floyd has been knocking on the door of late and may be the value bet against the likes of Camberley and Lunar Leo - who both need luck on their side to be seen at their best. Funfair Wane also has to be seriously considered but he has been out of form for a while now and could do with some respite from the handicapper. Greenslades and Digital are also capable of pushing the selection all the way to the line, but have a little to prove with a few of these on the pick of their form. Therefore a process of elimination gives a slender vote to Hurricane Floyd, who is still very well treated on the best of his form despite being 4lb higher after finishing third in a decent heat at Kempton last month. The gelding is much better than his win to runs ratio would suggest and he can finally end a three-year barren spell without a win. The ground will hold no fears for him and he should make a bold bid for glory.
