Verdict

There can be no doubting that Texas Gold is a horse that deserves a change of fortune and he is fancied to reverse Stewards Cup form with Two Step Kid, who reopposes on 3lb worse terms today. There are a number of the rest that have claims on the best of their form and places on the shortlist for each way punters to consider include reservations for: Aversham, who is now with Roger Charlton after a spell racing on the dirt in Dubai. Bygone Days, who also has a solid chance back on ground that should suit him better than for his last run, while Devise arrives here at the top of his game and will be very hard to keep out of the frame if he runs his usual race. However, he is creeping up the weights without winning and has been quite an expensive horse to follow for win only purposes this season. The same can be said of the selection after his last three efforts where trouble in running and bad draws have done for his chances. Nevertheless, it does not diminish from Texas Gold's ability and, as his trainer believes that he has only recently returned to peak fitness, today is the day that the son of Cadeaux Genereaux can finally deliver the goods again.
