BALNAGORE is selected as the one to be on in this amateur jockeys contest. With over a third of the others set to race from out of the weights, the in-form Sand Repeal, Turner's Touch and Optimus can scrap it out as the best of the rest. Optimus is well handicapped just now and is paired off with one of the more accomplished riders at this level. However, he has not really been convincing over this trip and it will take very good judgement from Simon Walker to save enough in the locker for the finial push. Turner's Touch has paid his way over the years and holds a solid chance of making the frame, if everything drops into place for him. Still, his lack of success on turf is notable, so a cautious approach is advised if he attracts the interest of the betting public. Sand Repeal has been in great heart and gets on very well with today's pilot. His 6lb penalty for last week's win at Chester is fair and the Julia Fielden-trained gelding is again worth a saver, odds permitting. However, Balnagore has been cut some slack by the handicapper and appeals from a punting perspective. John Dunlop likes nothing more than sending out a winner at his local course and, as his representative is still open to improvement at this trip, this looks a good time to side with the son of Tobougg.
