Friday's Totesport Mile was talked about as a possibility for Joseph Henry after his latest success at Ayr but Mark Johnston's gelding has taken the easier option of this contest instead and the hint is taken with the four-year-old getting the vote ahead of Irony and Ordnance Row. The last mentioned showed progressive form last term and it may be too soon to write him off after a disappointing reappearance but it is hard to recommend Richard Hannon's colt with any confidence on that evidence. Desert Dreamer should appreciate the return to turf but is probably a shade high in the weights at present, while Guest Connections missed an engagement at Pontefract last week and runs in this seemingly tougher contest instead. Shot To Fame has yet to recapture his best, while Illustrious Blue has more to do than when winning at Newbury last time and of more interest may be Irony. Andrew Balding's gelding was good value for his win at Chepstow last time but may not be as effective over the extra furlong today and preference is for Joseph Henry, who is taken to give Mark Johnston another Goodwood winner.
