Verdict

This is one race that has eluded Dermot Weld in the past ten years but that can be put right with FASTIDIOUS. He showed plenty of promise in his juvenile campaign and looks to have been put away with this fixture in mind after a promising reappearance at Gowran in April. Fionnuar battled on well to land a fillies' maiden at the Curragh in a three-way photo-finish. She'll improve for the run and has to be of interest along with the progressive California Rose, who had today's rival Money Spider a couple of lengths behind when completing a double at Killarney. After her victory at Tipperary, Sharp And Smart couldn't quite cope with a 10lb rise at Fairyhouse and though Pierre D'Or hasn't replicated his juvenile form he's slipped down the weights and Sam James' claim is a plus. The lightly-raced The Ring Is King made a promising handicap debut at Bellewstown and with Johnny Murtagh a positive booking he can get into the frame at a fair price.
