Verdict

Dermot Weld has won this no less than seven times and can make it number eight with UNIVERSAL TRUTH, who started odds-on for The Guinness Race here a year ago but could only finish fourth before being well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown. An earlier third place behind Sweeps Hill in the Champion Bumper at Punchestown shows his massive potential and he beat Shamiran over 4l on the flat at Leopardstown last June. Clonard Lad makes his bow over timber after a narrow success in a Tramore bumper in April and looks certain to make a useful hurdler while Cruise On Bach reverts to hurdling after landing a 2m4f bumper at Roscommon and should go well. The 110-flat rated Drumfire is a very interesting newcomer as the former Mark Johnston-trained six-year-old was having his first start for Eoin Griffin when runner-up to Profound Beauty in a Listed event at the Curragh recently.
