    Verdict

This is, surprisingly, ORTHODOX LAD's first appearance in novice company though he has run in several maiden hurdles, winning at Worcester in July. Two recent efforts in handicaps suggest he should have too much for Wednesday's easy Southwell winner Experimentalist receiving 7lb, though the top weight does have a 10lb claimer to ease his burden. Sir Dylan might have a bit of scope but he was beaten more than 20 lengths when second at Newton Abbot and none of the others makes much appeal.
